Nakumpleto na ng kauna-unahang Filipino-made hybrid electric train (HET) ang test run nito at pormal nang ibinigay sa Philippine National Railways (PNR).
Nilagdaan ni Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Fortunato dela Peña at PNR operations manager Joseline Geronimo ang ownership documents para sa tren.
Binuo ang naturang hybrid electric train ng Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) isang attached agency ng DOST at unang pinasinayaan noong 2016.
Isinailalim ang tren sa 150-hour validation test sa Alabang-Calamba route ng PNR.
Pasado ang HET sa reliability, availability, maintainability at safety tests.
Kaya nitong magsakay ng 220 pasahero ay tumakbo ng 50 kilometro kada oras.
Inaasahang gagamitin na ng PNR para sa commercial ang tren sa mga susunod na linggo.
