19 Filipino WW2 Veterans gagawaran ng US congressional gold medal

Bibigyan ng pagkilala ang nasa 19 na Filipino World War 2 veterans sa isang seremonya sa Camp Aguinaldo sa lunes, June 10.

Ayon sa Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), pagkakalooban ng United States Congressional Gold Medal ang mga beterano na tumulong sa mga sundalong Amerikano para mapalaya ang Pilipinas sa pananakop ng Japanese Imperial Army noong 1945.

Bukod sa 19 na nabubuhay na Filipino war veterans, may 21 pang Filipino veterans ang pagkakalooban ng posthumous US Congressional Gold Medal.

Ang US Congressional Gold Medal ang pinaka-mataas na pagkilala na ibinibigay sa mga indibidwal na may malaking kontribusyon sa isang bansa.

Ang seremonya ay pangungunahan nina Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana at US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim.
