SWS: Hunger rate bumaba sa unang kwarter ng 2019

Nasa 2.3 milyong pamilyang Pilipino ang nakaranas ng “involuntary hunger” ng minsan sa nakalipas na 3 buwan.

Ayon sa bagong Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey na ginawa mula March 28 hanggang 31, nasa 9.5 percent ang dumanas ng “involuntary hunger” sa unang bahagi ng taon.

Sa naturang porsyento, 8.1 percent o 2 milyong pamilya ang minsang nakaranas ng “moderate hunger” o ilang beses na “involuntary hunger.”

Habang 1.3 percent ang malimit na nakaranas ng “severe hunger” o madalas na nakaranas ng “involuntary hunger.”

Tinukoy ng SWS na involuntary ang pagkagutom dahil nakasaad sa tanong na ang naranasang “hunger” ay dahil sa kawalan ng makain.

Ang hunger rate sa unang kwarter ng 2019 ay isang porsyentong mababa sa 10.5 percent na naitala sa huling bahagi ng 2018.

Ito na ang ikalawang sunod na kwarter na naitala ang pagbaba ng hunger rate sa bansa.
