CDO napili bilang Universal Health Care program pilot area ng DOH
Gagawin ng Department of Health na pilot area para sa Universal Health Care program ng Department of Health ang Cagayan De Oro City.
Ito ay kaugnay sa maayos na sistema na ipinatutupad ng Cagayan De Oro City local government sa pagtiyak ng maayos na medical service para sa mga residente sa lungsod.
Sa ilalim ng Universal Health Care law, ang bawat Pilipino ay may “immediate eligibility” sa health care program ng gobyerno, kabilang ang preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative, at palliative care para sa serbisyong medical, dental, mental, at iba pa.
Nauna dito ay naglaan ang Cagayan De Oro City Hall ng P1.16 Billion para sa pagpapatayo ng dagdag na mga pagamutan.
Kabilang dito ang dalawang satellite hospitals sa Barangay Tablon at Lumbia, na sinimulan gawin noong nakaraang taon.
Samantala, binuksan na ang North Wing building ng JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH) para mapakinabangan ito ng mga mahihirap na residente sa lungsod.
Ang bagong gawang gusali ng JRBGH ay bahagi ng Health Facility Enhancement Program ng Department of Health (DOH).
Kaugnay nito ay pinuri ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III si Mayor Oscar Moreno dahil sa kaniyang dedikasyon na bigyan ng maayos na pasilidad ang mga residente sa lungsod.
“One beautiful thing that happened to Cagayan de Oro is the stewardship of Mayor Moreno, who has engineered the transformation not only of JR Borja Hospital but the city as well,” ayon pa kay Duque.
Bukod sa mga nasabing proyekto ay plano rin ni Moreno na magtayo ng health centers sa liblib na lugar na mapapakinabangan ng mga residente sa oras ng emergency.
