Mga smuggled na sigarilyo, nasabat sa Zamboanga port

Nasabat ang P35 milyong halaga ng smuggled na sigarilyo at lima pang plastic containers na naglalaman ng sigarilyo sa Zamboanga port.

Ito ay kasunod ng pinagsamang operasyon ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), at Philippine Navy.

Nakuha ang mga sigarilyo sa MJ Andrea vessel kung saan mayroon itong 1,159 cases noong April 9. Ipinustlit umano ang mga sigarilyo mula Indonesia.

Samantala, ang limang plastic containers naman na nasabat noong April 10 ay nakuha sa isang roro mula sa Jolo, Sulu.

Ayon kay Port of Zamboanga district collector Segundo Barte Jr., ang operasyon noong April 9 ay nag-ugat sa isang intelligence report na ipinadala sa BOC noong April 7.

Ani barte, kaagad silang nakipag-ugnayan sa PCG, Philippine Navy at iba pang ahensya ng pamahalaan para abangan ang pagdating ng mga vessel.

Nasa kustodiya na ng BOC ang mga nakumpisang sigarilyo at papatawan ng warrant of seizure and detention dahil sa kawalan ng National Tobacco Administration permit, paglabag ng Executive Order no. 245, at Section 117 ng Republic Act 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act of 2016.
