Regulation ng mga HMOs inilipat ng Malacanang sa Insurance Commission

Isinalin na ng Department of Health sa Insurance Commission ang regulation at supervision sa lahat ng mga Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) sa bansa.

Sa pamamagitan ng isang Executive Order na nilagdaan ni Pangulong Noynoy Aquino, ang establishments, operations, financial at iba pang activities ng mga HMOs ay nasa direktang pangangalaga na ng Insurance Commission.

Layunin ng nasabing paglilipat ng kontrol na mabawasan ang redundancy at gawing simple ang pagbabantay sa operasyon ng mga HMOs.

Isang Oversight Committee rin ang binuo ng Malacanang para sa mangyayaring smooth transition ng trabaho at kontrol sa ibat-ibang mga health insurance sa bansa.

Ang komite ay binubuo nina Finance Sec. Cesar Purisima, Health Sec. Janet Garin at Insurance Commission Head Emmanuel Dooc.

Tiniyak naman ng Malacanang na hindi makaka-apekto ang paglilipat ng supervision at regulation sa Insurance Commission sa kasalukuyang operasyon at serbisyo na ibinibigay ng mga Health Maintenance Organizations.
