PBA: Ginebra, nakasungkit ng playoff spot matapos talunin ang NLEX

Sa kabila ng pagtama ng food poisoning sa karamihan ng mga players, nakasungkit ang Barangay Ginebra ng playoff spot sa PBA Philippine Cup matapos talunin ang NLEX sa laro sa Pampanga Sabado ng gabi sa score na 105-96.

Hindi naging maganda ang simula ng laro ng Gin Kings dahil ilang players ang tinamaan ng food poisoning.

“We had a real bad case of food poisoning. The hardest hit was Mark Caguioa. Sol (Mercado) was hit hard, I was hit hard. We had about 8 or nine players suffering from [it],” pahayag ni coach Tim Cone sa post-game interview.

Pinangunahan ni Japeth Aguilar ang laro na ikinasiya ng hometown crowd sa ginawa nitong 27 points at siyam na rebounds.

Nagdagdag si LA Tenorio ng 17 points habang sina Greg Slaughter at Kevin Ferrer ay gumawa ng tig 14 points.

Dahil sa panalo ay lumapit na ang koponan sa No. 2 spot dahil sa kartadang 6-3, sunod sa TNT KaTropa na may kartadang 7-3 at target din ang huling twice to beat advantage.

Naging mainit naman ang simula ng NLEX pero hindi nila ito naipagpatuloy hanggang sa sumunod na mga quarters.

Sina Poy Erram at JR Quiñahan naman ang nanguna sa scoring ng NLEX.
