Nilagdaan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang batas na nagtatatag sa General Santos City bilang lone congressional district sa South Cotabato.
Pinirmahan ng pangulo ang RA 11243 o An Act Reapportioning the First Legislative Disctrict of the Province of South Cotabato.
Dahil sa nasabing batas, ang General Santos City na bahagi ng unang distrito ng South Cotabato ay magiging ikatlong legislative district na ng lalawigan.
Sa ilalim ng batas narito ang magiging hatian ng tatlong legislative district sa probinsya:
Ang First Legislative District ay bubuuin ng:
-Polomok
-Tamapakan
-Tupi
Ang Second Legislative District ay bubuuin ng:
-Koronadal City
-Banga
-Lake Sebu
-Norala
-Santo Niño
-Surallah
-Tantangan
-T’Boli
At ang Third District Legislative District naman ay ang General Santos City.
Mananatili sa kani-kanilang pwesto ang incumbent representatives ng First at Second Legislative District ng South Cotabato hanggang sa makapaghalal ng bagong mga kinatawan sa susunod na eleksyon.
