Pansamantalang pagsasara ng Mt. Apo trail, pinag-aaralan

Plano ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Kidapawan City ang pansamantalang pagsasara ng Mt. Apo trail sa summer para maiwasan ang grass at forest fire.

Inutusan ni Mayor Joseph Evangelista ang City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) na pag-aralan ang posibleng paglalagay ng “fire line” sa naturang bundok.

Pangamba ng lokal na pamahalaan, posibleng magkaroon ng sunog sa bundok na kagagawan ng walang-ingat na trekker lalo na sa pag-iral ng El Niño.

Kahit mayroon na umanong fire line na mas malawak kaysa sa kasalukuyang 10 kilometers by 4 kilometers ay posible pa rin ang forest fire kung hindi mag-iingat ang mga trekkers.

Magkakaroon ng pulong ang city government sa mga opisyal ng Protected Areas Management Board sa March 5 para pag-aralan ang panukala.
