Tropang nagbabantay sa West Philippine Sea may bagong pinuno

Itinalaga bilang bagong pinuno ng Western Command ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) si Vice Admiral Rene Medina.

Ginanap ang simpleng turnover ceremony na dinaluhan ni AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Genjamin Madrigal Jr. sa Camp General Artemio Ricarte sa Puerto Princesa City.

Sa nasabing pagtitipon ay pinasalamatan ni Madrigal si Commodore Dorvin Jose Legaspi na namuno lamang ng ilang buwan sa Western Command na siyang grupong nagpapatrulya sa West Philippine Sea.

Bago naitalaga sa Western Command, si Medina ang Commander of Naval Forces ng Western Mindanao Command.

Ang nasabing pwersa ang siyang may pinakamalaking naval operating force sa ilalim ng pangangasiwa ng Philippine Navy.

Si Medina ay kasapi sa Philippine Military Academy “Singtala” Class of 1986  ay tumanggap na ng maraming pagkilala sa kanyang mahigit sa 30 taon ng tour of duty sa militar.
