Davao City, nanguna sa Batang Pinoy Mindanao leg

Patuloy na nangunguna ang defending champion na Davao City sa ginaganap na 2019 Batang Pinoy Mindanao leg.

Kabuuang 27 gold, 21 silver at 39 bronze o 87 medals na ang nasusungkit ng Davao sa kompetisyon.

Wagi at dinomina ng lungsod ang swimming, archery, arnis, taekwondo, karatedo at dance sports.

Nakasungkit ng limang ginto si Kristine Madeline Ibag sa archery habang ang magkapatid na sina Liaa at Lora Micah Amoguis at nag-uwi ng apat na ginto para sa swimming.

Ikalawa naman ang Koronadal City na mayroong 18 ginto, siyam na pilak at anim na tanso o 33 medals.

Nasa ikatlong pwesto ang Davao del Norte sa 17 ginto, 15 pilak at 13 tanso o 45 medals.

Nagpasiklab naman sa unang araw ng athletic ang tubong Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte na si Aaron Gumban matapos makasungkit ng medalya sa 5,000-meter run boys 13-15.

Kinahapunan ay nakuha agad ni Gumban ang kanyang ikalawang gold medal matapos magwagi sa 2,000-meter steeplechase para maging unang atleta na nakadalawang ginto sa athletics.
