Hybrid train na Filipino-made, biyaheng PNR na ngayong buwan

Magsisimula na ngayong Pebrero ang operasyon ng kauna-unahang Filipino-made hybrid electric train ayon sa Philippine National Railways (PNR).

Ayon sa Department of Science of Technology- Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC), energy-efficient ang nasabing bagong tren.

Bukod dito ay kaunti lamang ang carbon emissions ng tren dahil pinatatakbo rin ito ng baterya.

Paliwanag ni project manager Engr. Pablo Acuin, kapag magpe-preno ang tren, ang mga motor ay nagsisilbing generator at nagcha-charge ang mga batteries nito.

Dahil sa load sharing ng diesel generators at mga batteries ay matipid ang kunsomo ng tren sa fuel at kaunti din ang carbon emissions ayon kay Acuin.

Fully air-conditioned ang limang bagon ng tren at kayang magsakay ng 1,000 pasahero sa Calamba-Alabang line ng PNR.
