Local chief executives binawalan nang bumiyahe sa ibang bansa kapag may kalamidad

Pinagbawalan na ang local chief executive (LCEs) na magbiyahe sa ibang bansa o maghain ng leave of absence sa kasagsagan ng kalamidad.

Ito ay matapos magbaba ng memorandum si Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Eduardo Año na nag-aatas sa pagbawi ng naaprubahan nang foreign travel authority o leave of absence ng local executives kapag natyempo sa petsa ng kanilang pag-alis sa pagdating kalamidad.

Ang desisyon ni Año ay matapos silang magsampa ng kasong administratibo laban sa limang alkalde na missing-in-action sa kani-kanilang nasasakupan noong tumama ang bagyong Ompong.

Kabilang sa mga kinasuhan ng DILG sina Mayor Eduarte ng Tayum, Abra; Mayor Luspian ng Mankayan, Benguet; Mayor Chiyawan ng Natonin, Mt. Province; Mayor Limmayog ng Sadanga, Mt. Province; at Mayor Ruma ng Rizal, Cagayan.

Habang binigyang-babala naman ng DILG Secretary sina Mayor Seares ng Dolores, Abra; Mayor Salazar ng Lasam, Cagayan; Mayor Turingan ng Enrile, Cagayan; Mayor Villacete ng Piat, Cagayan; Mayor Carag ng Solana, Cagayan; at Mayor Mamba ng Tuao, Cagayan.

Ayon kay DILG Assistant Secretary and Spokesperson Jonathan Malaya, ang hakbang na ito ng ahensya ay para matiyak ang presensya ng mga local exexutives habang nanalasa ang kalamidad.
