Inanunsyo ng Department of Education (DepEd)ang kanselasyon ng klase at trabaho sa elementarya at sekondarya para sa January 2, 2019.
Sa memo 193 series of 2019 na may petsang December 19, sinabi ni Education Sec. Leonor Briones na ito ay alinsunod sa Circular No. 54 na inilabas ng Office of the President.
Noong December 17 ay sinuspinde na ng OP ang pasok sa lahat ng tanggapan ng gobyerno sa naturang araw.
Samantala, ani Briones, desisyon ng mga school administrators sa mga pampribadong paaralan ang kanilang suspensyon ng klase.
Matatandaang nagsuspinde na rin ng pasok at trabaho ang mga korte at maging state universities and colleges sa January 2.
