Legalidad ng joint oil exploration sa Palawan idinepensa ng Malacañang

Kumpiyansa ang Malacañang na hindi labag sa Saligang Batas ang nilagdaang kasunduan ng Pilipinas at Israel kaugnay sa joint oil exploration sa Palawan.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo, pinapayagan naman ng Konstitusyon ang magkaroon ng mga kahalintulad na kasunduan.

Kagabi lamang, nagkaroon na ng ceremonial signing sa Malacañang sa pagitan nina Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi at Itay Raphael Rabibzada, president at chief executive officer ng Ratio Petroluem Company.

Gayunman, hindi rin isinasantabi ni Panelo ang posibilidad na may dudulog pa rin sa Supreme Court para kwestyunin ang kasunduan.

Matatandaan na noong 2005 hanggang 2008 kinuwestyon sa Korte Suprema ang marine seismic undertaking ng Pilipinas, China at Vietnam sa Spratly’s.

Sakop ng gagawing oil exploration ang 416,000 hectares sa karagatang sakop ng lalawigan na sinasabing mayaman sa langis at iba pang uri ng natural gas.
