Kauna-unahang pulong ng presidente ng China at Taiwan makalipas ang 66 na taon, isasagawa

Ma and XiMagpupulong sa Sabado sa Singapore ang presidente ng China at Taiwan.

Ito ang unang pagkakataon na maghaharap sa isang pulong ang dalawang lider matapos ang Chinese Communist Revolution noong 1949.

Pag-uusapan nina Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou at China President Xi Jingping ang posibilidad na maisaayos ang relasyon ng dalawang bansa.

Ang tagapagsalita ni President Ma na si Charles Chen ang nagkumpirma ng nasabing balita.

Ayon kay Chen, partikular na layunin ang pagkakaroon ng tiyak na “secure cross-strait peace” pero wala aniyang kasunduan o joint statement na lalagdaan. “The purpose of President Ma’s visit is to secure cross-strait peace and maintain the status quo of the Taiwan Straits. No agreement will be signed, nor any joint statement be released,” sinabi ni kay Chen.

Ang nasabing pulong ay magiging bahagi ng dalawang araw na state visit ni President Xi sa Singapore.

Bagaman unti-unti nang gumanda ang relasyon ng China at Taiwan nitong nagdaang mga taon, patuloy na itinuturing ng Chinese government na ‘breakaway provincel nila ang Taiwan.
