Ang seahorses ay itinuturing na endangered marines species at ang paghuli nito ay paglabag sa Fisheries Code of the Philippines.
Ayon sa Bureau of Customs ang mga seahorse na ilegal na hinuhuli at saka pinatutuyo ay kadalasang dinadala sa China dahil ginagamit itong gamot doon.
