Kinilala ang preso na si Mel Pardilla, 30 taong gulang na nakulong dahil sa pagsusugal sa kalye matapos mahuling naglalaro ng cara y cruz.
Halos isang linggong naka-confine sa National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) si Pardilla matapos magkaroon ng leptospirosis.
Ayon sa mga otoridad, August 1 nang isugod sa naturang ospital ang inmate dahil sa idinaing na pananakit ng tiyan at hirap sa paghinga.
Nakasaad sa kanyang death certificate na severe pulmonary hemorrhage na komplikasyon ng leptospirosis ang sanhi ng kanyang pagkamatay.
