Simula ngayong araw, August 1, ay bubuksan na para sa mga Filipino ang public veneration para sa relics ni St. Padre Pio.
Dinala ni Fr. Gian Maria Di Giorgio sa bansa ang mga relics mula pa sa San Giovani Rotondo sa Italya.
Ilan sa mga relic ng santo na dinala sa bansa ay ang kanyang kuko, buhok, hibla ng balat mula sa sugat, gasa na ginamit sa sugat at maging ang kanyang gloves.
Isa sa mga pinaka-pinipintakasing banal ng Simbahang Katolika si Padre Pio dahil sa pagpapakita sa kanya ng ‘stigmata’ o mga kahalintulad na sugat ng Panginoong Hesukristo.
Pansamanatalang ilalagak sa Padre Pio Chapel sa Libis, Quezon City ang mga naturang relics at iiikot sa mga lungsod sa Metro Manila maging sa mga lalawigan tulad ng Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Iloilo, Cebu, Bohol at iba pa.
Tatagal ang public veneration hanggang sa Dakilang Kapistahan ng pagsilang ng Birheng Maria sa September 8.
