Imbestigasyon ng Ombudsman kay Paolo Duterte, welcome sa Malacañan
Hindi nababahala ang Palasyo ng Malacañan sa ikinakasang imbestigasyon ng Office of the Ombudsman laban kay Presidential son at dating Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte.
Ito ay kahit na na-dismiss na ng Ombudsman ang kaso laban kay Duterte dahil sa pagkakadawit nito sa P6.4 bilyong shabu shipment na nakalusot sa Bureau of Customs (BOC).
Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, may sapat na kapangyarihan ang Ombudsman na magsagawa ng sariling imbestigasyon at kasuhan ang mga nagkakasalang opisyal ng pamahalaan.
“The Office of the Ombudsman has the power to investigate on its own and initiate proper action against public officers,” ayon kay Roque.
Paniwala ng Palasyo, tinutupad lamang ng Ombudsman ang Consitutional mandate nito na papanagutin ang mga opisyal ng pamahalaan at masigurong may public accountability.
“We see this as part of the Ombudsman’s constitutional mandate to ensure public accountability,” sabi pa ni Roque.
Una rito, sinabi ni Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales na tuloy pa rin ang imbestigasyon ng Office of the Ombudsman kay Duterte kahit na na-dismiss na ang kaso dahil sa kawalan ng sapat na basehan na nagkaroon ng partisipasyon sa shabu shipment ang panganay na anak ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
