Halos 5,000 ‘overstaying’ na Pinoy, napauwi mula sa Kuwait

Mula nang magsimula ang repatriation program ng gobyerno noong February 11 ay umabot na sa 4,993 ang kabuuang bilang ng mga napauwing Filipino sa bansa mula sa Kuwait.

Ito ang inihayag ng Departmenf of Foreign Affairs (DFA) matapos ang deadline ng amnesty program ng Kuwaiti government kahapon April 22.

Mula Sabado ng gabi hanggang Linggo ng gabi ay nakapagpauwi pa ng higit 400 na undocumented Filipinos sa pangunguna ng mga opisyal ng DFA, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) at Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

Sakay ng Philippine Airlines Flight 699 mula Kuwait ay unang lumapag sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport ang unang batch ng 113 manggagawang Pinoy.

Linggo naman ng gabi ng dumating ang huling dalawang batch ng 326 mga pinoy sakay ng magkahiwalay na flights ng Qatar Airways.

Bunsod ng bilang na ito, sinabi ni Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Renato Villa na nasa humigit-kumulang 5,000 undocument Pinoy workers pa rin ang nasa Kuwait ang piniling hindi makinabang sa amnesty program ng Kuwait.
