Malacañang: 3rd player sa telco industry malabo pang makapasok sa bansa

Aminado ang Malacañang na physically impossible na na makamit ang itinakdang deadline ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na maging operational na ang third telco player sa unang quarter ng taong kasalukuyan.

Sa pulong balitaan sa Sara, Iloilo, sinabi ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque na ito ay dahil sa overtaken by events na ang gobyerno.

Matatandaang una nang humirit si Information and Communications Technology Secretary Eliseo Rio na palawigin pa ang deadline pero hindi ito pinagbigyan ng pangulo.

Ayon kay Roque, dahil sa mga pangyayari ay maari aniyang mapilitan ang pangulo na maiurong ang deadline.

Matatandaang bukod sa China, nagpahayag na rin ng interes ang South Korea, Japan, Australia at India na maging third telco player.

Nais ng pangulo na makapasok ang third telco player para mabuwag na ang doupoly ng Smart at Globre Telecoms na nagbibigay ng mahinang internet conneciton at mobile phone services sa bansa.
