Daan-daang mamamahayag, lumahok sa Black Friday Protest

Nagsagawa ng Black Friday Protest ang iba’t ibang grupo ng mga mamamahayag para kondenahin ang anila ay pag-atake sa press freedom.

Lumahok sa protesta ang daan-daang journalists, bloggers at mga aktibista na nagsuot ng itim na t-shirts sa Boy Scout Circle sa Quezon City.

Pinangunahan ng National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) ang pagtitipon na anila ay una pa lamang sa serye ng mass actions laban sa anila ay pag-atake ng administrasyon laban sa mga media institution.

Nagsimula ang isyu matapos bawiin ng Securities and Exchange Commissioner (SEC) ang license to operate ng news website ng Rappler.

Ayon kay Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism Executive Director Malou Mangahas, nahaharap pa sa mas seryosong problema ang Philippine press dahil ilang Catholic radio stations sa bansa ang napipinto na ring ipasara.

Tinukoy din ni Mangahas ang prankisa ng ABS-CBN na nasa balag din ng alanganin gayundin ang Philippine Daily Inquirer.
