Pumanaw na ang kilalang US astronaut na si John Young sa edad na 87.
Ayon sa National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), komplikasyon dulot ng pneumonia ang naging sanhi ng pagkamatay ng astronaut noong Biyernes ng gabi.
Sa inilabas na pahayag ni agency administrator Robert Lightfoot, nawalan aniya ng isang pioneer ang NASA at mundo.
Magiging gabay aniya ang nasimulan ni Young para sa susunod na human frontier ng NASA.
Kilala si Young bilang bukod tanging astronaut na nakalabas sa mundo nang anim na beses, nakalipad sa Gemini, Apollo at space shuttle programs ng naturang space agency.
