Mahigit 600 segundamanong TV set, kinumpiska ng Customs
Nasa 602 unit ng television sets ang nasabat ng Enforcement Group ng Bureau of Customs o BOC makaraang mabigo ang local importer nito na magprisinta ng import clearance para patunayang lehitimo ang importasyon.
Pinigil ng Enforcement and Security Service o ESS ang naturang mga kargamento lulan ng isang 1 by 40 container van sa Manila International Container Port o MICP noon pang Hunyo ng 2015.
Subalit, iyon ay tuluyan nang kinumpiska ng Customs sa utos na rin ni Deputy Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno ng ESS dahil hindi na rin nakapagpakita ng Pre-Shipment Import Clearance ang importer mula sa Environmental Management Bureau o EMB ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Sa ilalim ng DENR regulations, ang mga lumang TV sets ay ikinokonsidera bilang recyclable material na nagtataglay ng hazardous substances na mapanganib sa kalusugan ng tao, ngunit ito ay maaring i-import kaakibat ang partikular na limitasyon.
Dahil dito, sinumang indibiduwal na gustong mag-import ng mga segundamanong TV sets ay kailangan kumuha ng Import Clearance mula sa EMB-DENR.
Hindi naman binanggit ng BOC kung sino ang importer ng mga kontrabando na nahaharap sa paglabag ng Section 2530 ng Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines, as amended, in relation to R.A. 6969 at DENR Administrative Order 2013-22.
