Duterte nagtalaga ng mga bagong mahistrado sa Sandiganbayan
Itinalaga ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa Court of Appeals si Atty. Walter Ong, ang kapatid ni dating Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Gregory Ong.
Tinanggap ng Korte Suprema ang appointment letter ni Walter ngayong araw.
Si Ong ay isang private practitioner at graduate ng Ateneo School of Law.
Una nang nakabilang sa shortlist si Ong para sa Sandiganbayan.
Pupunan ni Walter ang posisyong iniwan ni Associate Justice Noel Tijam na itinalaga sa Korte Suprema noong Marso.
Si dating Associate Justice Ong ay sinibak sa pwesto ng Korte Suprema noong 2014 dahil sa mga alegasyong nagdadawit sa kanya sa umano’y pork barrel scam queen na si Janet Lim-Napoles.
Samantala, sa hiwalay na appointment letter, itinalaga ni Duterte si Maria Cristina Cornejo bilang Associate Justice ng Sandiganbayan.
Si Cornejo ay Judge ng Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 141 na naghain ng vacate order laban sa Sunvar Realty Development Corp. mula sa Mile Long property sa Sandiganbayan.
