SECURE GovNet itataguyod para sa super-bilis na internet sa Pilipinas

Magkakaroon na ng kalaban ang dalawang higanteng telecommunication companies sa bansa.

Ito ay matapos lumagda ang pamahalaan sa isang “partnership” sa Facebook upang bumuo ng isang “ultra high-speed” broadband infrastructure kung saan inaasahang magiging third major player ang gobyerno sa telecommunications industry.

Kahapon lamang, November 15 ay lumagda ang Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) at Facebook para sa nasabing proyekto.

Ito ay tatawaging Strategic Engagement and Collaboration to Undertake a Reliable and Efficient Government Internet o SECURE GovNet.

Itatayo ng BCDA ang Luzon Bypass Corridor na binubuo ng dalawang cable landing stations na ikokonekta sa pamamagitan ng 250 kilometer cable network corridor.

Inatasan naman ang Facebook na bumuo at mag-operate ng isang submarine cable system sa ilalim ng east and west coasts ng Luzon.

Ayon kay DICT Officer-in-Charge Eliseo Rio, ang naturang cable system ay magkokonekta sa Luzon sa internet systems sa United States at iba pang bahagi ng Asya.

Ang naturang proyekto ayon kay Rio ay bahagi pa rin ng proyekto ni Pangulong Duterte na National Broadband Plan na layong pabilisin ang internet speed ng bansa.
