DOH, bubuo ng TEC para pag-aralan ang mga implikasyon ng legalization ng medical marijuana

Bubuo ang Department of Health ng isang technical evaluation committee (TEC) na masusing pag-aaralan ang maaaring maging implikasyon ng pagsasa-legal ng medical marijuana.

Ito ay matapos ipasa ng House Committee on Health noong Setyembre ang House Bill 180 o “Philippine Medical Compassionate Medical Cannabis Act” na layong isa-legal at maregulate ang paggamit ng marijuana, ekslusibo para sa mga medikal na layunin.

Ayon kay Health Undersecretary for Health Regulation Mario Villaverde, bubuoin ang TEC ng Health Facilities and Services Regulatory Bureau ng DOH, Food and Drug Administration at Philippine Institute for Traditional and Alternative Health Care.

Iginiit ni Villaverde na ang marijuana ay mapanganib sa raw form nito.

Ganito rin ang naging sentimyento ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque ngunit sinabing aprubado lamang niya ang ang paggamit ng medical marijuana eklusibo lamang sa medical research.

Iginiit ng kalihim na pinapayagan na sa ilalim ng Section 16 ng Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 ang medical laboratories na magpatubo ng marijuana at katulad na mga halaman at materyal para saliksikin.

Ilang mga grupo na nga ang tumutol sa pagsasa-legal ng marijuana kabilang ang University of the Philippines – Manila na naglabas ng kanilang position paper kontra rito.
