Pambato ng Pilipinas na si Karen Ibasco, itinanghal na Miss Earth 2017
Wagi ang pambato ng Pilipinas na si Karen Ibasco sa Miss Earth 2017.
Naganap ang coronation night ng pageant ngayong gabi sa Mall of Asia Arena.
Kinoronahan si Ibasco ni Miss Earth 2016 Katherine Espin na mula sa Ecuador.
Noong 2016, sumabak din sa Binibining Pilipinas si Ibasco ngunit hindi pinalad na makasungkit ng pwesto.
Nagtapos siya sa University of Santo Tomas sa kursong Applied Physics at Medical Physics.
Sa final question and answer portion ng pageant, tinanong ang mga kandidata ng tanong na: “Who or what do you think is the biggest enemy of Mother Earth and why?”
Ito ang naging direktang sagot ni Ibasco.
“I believe that the real problem is not climate change. The real problem is us, because of our ignorance and apathy. What we have to do is to start changing our ways, to start recalibrating our minds and redirecting our steps. Because together as a global community our micro efforts will have a macro effect to help save our home, our planet.”
Nakalaban niya sa final four ng kompetisyon ang pambato ng Russia na si Lada Akimova, ng Colombia na si Juliana Franco, at pambato ng Australia na si Nina Robertson.
Si Robertson ay isang Filipino-Australian at itinanghal na Miss Earth Air.
Samantala, si Franco naman ay kinoronahan na Miss Earth Water at si Akimova ay itinanghal na Miss Earth Fire.
