¥15.9B Cavite Flood Control loan, nilagdaan ng Pilipinas at Japan

Popondohan ng Japan ang loan ng Pilipinas na layong makontrol ang pagbaha sa mga lugar na sakop ng lalawigan ng Cavite.

Nilagdaan ni Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano at Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono ang initial loan provision ng Cavite Industrial Area Flood Risk Management Project.

Nagkakahalaga ang proyekto ng 15.928 billion yen o aabot sa 7.25 bilyong piso at inaasahang masisimulan ng Department of Public Works and Highways sa October 2018 at matatapos sa April 2024.

Ayon sa Japanese Foreign Ministry, kabilang sa loan terms ang 0.3 interest rate kada taon at payable sa loob ng 30 taon matapos ang sampung taon na grace period.

Inaasahang mapapakinabangan ng 7, 964 na kabahayan ang naturang flood control project.

Makikinabang sa naturang proyekto ang mga lungsod ng General Trias at Imus, maging ang mga munisipalidad ng Noveleta, Kawit at Rosario na itinuturing na economic zones kung saan nanggaling ang 5.5 billion na halaga ng exports noong nakaraang taon.

Ang naturang proyekto ay bahagi pa rin ng 1 trillion yen loan package ng Japan sa Pilipinas.
