P4.15-B solar project sa Pangasinan, aprubado na ng DTI
Aprubado na ng Board of Investments ng Department of Trade and Industry ang San Miguel 1 Solar Power Project ng Pilipinas Newton Energy Corp.
Ang naturang 4.15 billion peso-solar project ay parte ng incentives sa ilalim ng Special Laws List ng Investment Priorities Plan (IPP) sa Republic Act 9513 o Renewable Energy Act.
Itatayo ang proyekto sa San Manuel, Pangasinan kung saan aabot sa mahigit pitumpung ektarya ang kabuuang land area nito.
Gagamitan din ito ng photovoltaics (PV) modules para sa generation ng kuryente na may peak capacity na 68.7 megawatts (MW).
Ayon kay Trade Undersecretary and BOI Managing Head Ceferino Rodolfo, magpapatuloy ang pagtaas ng demand sa kuryente dahil sa nagpapatuloy na industriyalisasyon sa bansa kasunod ng pagdagdag ng imprastraktura.
Dagdag pa nito, nagsisimula na aniya sila sa transition na paggamit ng renewable energy bilang parte ng National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) na adokasiya laban sa climate change.
Inaasahang sisimulan ang konstruksyon ng proyekto sa June ng susunod na taon.
