Bagong Philippine Ambassador sa U.S itinalaga na ng Malacañang

Inanunsyo ng Malakanyang na itinalaga na bilang Philippine Ambassador sa U.S si Jose Manuel “Babe” Romualdez.

Sa isang statement, sinabi ni Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella na kumpyansa sila na sa pamamagitan ni Romualdez ay mas mapagtitibay pa ang relasyon at kooperasyon ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos.

Bukod sa pagiging Ambassador sa US, si Romualdez ay magkakaroon din ng jurisdiction sa Caribbean island tulad ng Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and Grenadines, at Saint Lucia.

Naunang tinanggihan ni Romualdez ang alok ng pangulo noong 2016 na maging ambassador dahil sa isang emergency operation para sa kanyang mata.

Sa ngayon ay maayos na ang kalagayan nito, kaya naman tinanggap na niya ang pagiging ambassador to the US.
