Pagpapatuloy ng peace talks sa CPP-NPA muling nadiskaril
Inamin ni Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process o OPAPP Secretary Jesus Dureza na hindi muna itutuloy ang nakatakdang 5th round ng formal peace talks sa pagitan ng goverment peace panel at National Democratic Front o NDF, ang negotiating arm ng Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army o CPP-NPA.
Sa briefing sa Malacañang, sinabi ni Dureza na hindi maitutuloy ang peace talks sa Agosto kung hindi magkakaroon ng tinatawag na “enabling environment” o angkop na sitwasyon para sa pag-uusap.
Binigyang-diin ni Dureza na susundin din nila ang guidance ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na walang peace talks hangga’t hindi itinitigil ng mga komunista ang extortion o koleksyon ng revolutionary taxes.
Sa kabila nito, sinabi ni Dureza na may isasagawang back channeling talks upang maplantsa at magkaroon ng unawaan para matuloy ang peace negotiations.
Punto pa ng opisyal, habang nakikipag-usap ang pamahalaan sa grupo ng mga rebelde na isang “smaller table”, ang publiko pa rin aniya ang “bigger table.”
Kahit aniya lumagda sa peace agreements ang magkabilang panig pero hindi ito susuportahan ng publiko, mababalewala rin ang lahat.
