MOSCOW, RUSSIA – Dakong alas onse ng gabi ng May 22, oras sa Moscow nang dumating si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at ang kanyang delegasyon sa Russia.
Si Duterte ay nagtungo sa Russia para sa kanyang landmark four-day official visit.
Kasama sa opisyal na delegasyon ni Pangulong Duterte sina Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Foreign Affairs Secretary Allan Peter Cayetano, Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III, Justice Secretary Vitalliano Aguirre II, Agriculture Secretary Manny Pińol, at Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar.
Kabilang din sina Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, National Security Council Secretary Hermogenes Esperon, Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial, Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez, Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato Dela Peña, Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, National Economic and Development Authority Secretary Ernesto Pernia, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, Special Assistant to the President Secretary Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, at Senator Sherwin Gatchalian.
Sa May 24 pa ang unang official activity ng pangulo at ito ay ang bilateral meeting kay Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev sa House of Government of the Russian Federation.
Sa May 25 naman ang restricted meeting ni Pangulong Duterte kay Russian President Vladimir Putin sa Kremlin.
Ang pagbisitang ito ng pangulo sa Russia ay tinitignan na malinaw at solidong hakbang ng kanyang pinaiiral na independent foreign policy.
Pangunahing pakay ng pagbisita ni Duterte kasama ang kanyang delegasyon ay trade agreements kabilang na ang defense at military cooperation.
