Duda si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na maging state witness si Janet Lim Napoles sa mga kasong kaugnay sa pork barrel scam.
Pahayag ito ng pangulo matapos iabswelto ng Court of Appeals si Napoles kaugnay sa kasong serious illegal detention na isinampa ng kanyang pamangkin na si Benjhur Luy.
“As to the question of whether or not she could be utilized as a state witness, there’s a law which says—that one of the requirements – ‘at least she appears to be the least guilty.’ If you are a major player, I don’t know if you can do,” pahayag ng pangulo.
Gayunman, sinabi ng Pangulo na ipinauubaya na niya sa hukom ang pagpapasya kung gagawing state witness si napoles.
“It’s up to the judge. It is the judge—the prosecutor who would make the prayer by motion and the judge will decide. And marami kasi, there is no other witness to prove your case, that’s one,”dagdag ng Pangulo.
Ayaw kasi ng pangulo na ma-contempt at makulong lalot umuusad pa ang kaso sa pork barrel scam.
“Second is that, the proposed witness must appear to be the least guilty. So if you are asking for an expanded explanation, it’s just that she appears to be the minimal player, not the major player in the commission of the crime,” ayon pa kay Duterte.
Binanggit rin ng pangulo na walang sweetheart deal sa plunder case na kinakaharap ni Napoles.
