WATCH: “PH President” sinuntok ng “US Secretary of State” sa isang American TV series
Tampok sa teaser ng American television series na “Madam Secretary” ang panununtok ng karakter ni US Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord sa aktor na gumaganap naman bilang presidente ng Pilipinas.
Sa 20-second video teaser, ang babaeng US top diplomat na ginagampanan ng aktres na si Tea Leoni ay makikitang nasa isang closed-door meeting kasama ang Philippine leader na ang pangalan sa serye ay “Datu Andrada” at ginagampanan naman ng aktor na si Joel dela Fuente.
Ang nasabing kwarto ay makikitang tila kahalintulad ng Malacañang, mayroong Philippine flag at logo ng Office of the President sa backdrop at nakabarong din ang gumaganap na presidente.
Makikita sa teaser na tinititigan ng gumanap na “Philippine President” si McCord bago ito nakatikim ng suntok sa babae.
“When a foreign leader crosses the line, the Secretary of State is forced into a break in diplomacy,” ayon sa teaser.
Eere sa March 12 ang nasabing episode ng “Madam Secretary” na isang political drama sa CBS network.
Mariin namang kinondena ng Philippine Embassy sa Washington ang nasabing teaser para sa episode ng programa.
Sumulat na ang Embahada ng Pilipinas sa CBS Corporation para ipahayag ang protesta sa umano ay “highly negative depiction” sa karakter na “Philippine President”.
Dismayado ang Embahada sa mga katagang ginamit “Philippines’ unconventional new president” sa synopsis ng episode.
Bagaman fictional umano ang “Madam Secretary” series, tumatalakay ito at sumasalamin sa current events.
Dahil dito, hindi maiiwasan na ang portrayal sa nasabing programa sa mga world leaders ay magkakaroon ng impact sa audience views kaugnay sa ginagampanang personalidad at bansang kanilang kinakatawan.
Ang negatibong portrayal umano sa pinuno ng Pilipinas ay maaring makaapekto sa nirerespetong Office of the Philippine President.
“It also tarnishes the Philippines’ longstanding advocacy for women’s rights and gender equality,” nakasaad sa liham ng Philippine Embassy sa Washington.
Umapela din ang Philippine Embassy sa CBS na agad gumawa ng corrective actions hinggil sa nasabing episode.
