P20-M na halaga ng smuggled na bigas, nasamsam ng BOC

Tinatayang nasa P20 milyon ang halaga ng smuggled na bigas galing sa China ang nakumpiska ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) sa Port of Manila kahapon.

Ayon kay Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon, nakalagay ang mga bigas na ito sa labindalawang 40-footer na shipping containers, na idineklarang leather materials ang laman.

Nakapangalan ang shipment na ito sa RPR International Trading na naka-base sa Sta. Cruz Maynila.

Sinuspinde na ng BOC ang accreditation ng nasabing kumpanya bilang isang importer.

Dahil sa dami ng nakumpiskang bigas, sinabi ni Faeldon na balak nilang ipamigay na lang ang mga ito sa Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) upang maipamahagi sa mga nasalanta ng bagyo.
