Mananatiling “apolitical” at “non-partisan” ang Philipine National Police. Ito ang tiniyak ni PNP Spokesman Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor kasunod ng pag-endorso ni Pangulong Benigno Aquino III kay DILG Secretary Mar Roxas bilang standard bearer ng ruling administration party.
Ayon kay Mayor, walang kikilingang partido ang pambansang pulisya at mas naka-focus sila sa seguridad ng susunod na halalan. “We will focus on our mission to ensure that the next election will be peaceful and orderly. We will focus on our mission to enforce the law and maintain peace and order,”pahayag ng opisyal.
Bilang kalihim ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) si Roxas ang pinuno ng National Police Commission na siya namang may oversight function may 160,000 members ng PNP.
Sa kabila ng pangakong magiging non-partisan, iginiit ni Mayor na malaki ang pasasalamat nila kay Secretary Roxas dahil sa ilalim ng termino ng kalihim nadagdagan ang pwersa ng pambansang pulisya.
Bukod sa personnel development, sinabi ni Mayor na nabigyan na rin ng kani-kanilang mga baril ang mga pulis bukod pa sa improvement sa kanilang mobility at communication capabilities. / Jimmy Tamayo
