Pinoy fencers, nakasungkit ng 3 ginto sa SEA Fencing Championships

Nakabawi ang mga Pilipinong fencers mula sa hindi masyadong naging magandang laban nila sa Southeast Asian Games noong nakaraang taon.

Nakasungkit kasi sila ng tatlong gintong medalya sa SEA Fencing Championships na ginanap sa OCBC Arena sa Singapore kamakailan.

Nakuha nina Brennan Louie, Nathaniel Perez, Samuel Tranquilan at Michael Nicanor ang ginto sa men’s foil team sa iskor na 45-43, at tinalo nila ang SEA Games titlist na Singapore.

Binasag nito ang sunud-sunod na pagkatalo ng mga Pilipino sa patimpalak mula noong 2013.

Una nang nakuha ni Louie ang ginto sa men’s individual foil, habang si Noelito naman ay nakakuha ng silver medal sa men’s epee.

Nakakuha rin ng silver ang Pilipinas sa women’s sabre team event.

Nasungkit naman nina Gabrielle Estimada, Hanniel Abella at SEA Games silver medalist Harlene Orendain ang panalo sa women’s epee team matapos nilang matapo ang Vietnam sa iskor na 45-42.

Mas maganda na ngayon ang medal tally ng Pilipinas na 3 golds, 2 silvers at 5 bronze, mula sa dating 0-4-2 tally sa SEA Games.
