P3.35T na 2017 national budget, naisumite na sa Kamara
Pormal nang isinumite ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) sa Kamara ang panukalang P3.35 trillion na pambansang budget para sa taong 2017.
Personal na iniabot ni Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno kay House Speaker Pantaleon “Bebot” Alvarez at Majority leader Rudy Fariñas ang panukalang budget sa sermonyang isinagawa sa Speaker’s Hall, Lunes ng tanghali.
Ang 2017 proposed General Appropriations Act ay mas mataas ng 11.6 percent higher kumpara sa P3.002 trillion national budget ngayong 2016.
Sa kaniyang pahayag, sinabi ni Diokno na tinaasan ang budget para sa Philippine National Police (PNP) at Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa ilalim ng Duterte administration dahil sa mas pinaigting na kampanya kontra ilegal na droga, krimen at terorismo.
Sa panukala, sinabi ni Diokno na ang budget para sa PNP ay aabot sa P110.4 billion, o 24.6 percent na mas mataas kumpara sa 2016 budget. Ito ay upang makapag-hire aniya ng mas maraming PNP personnel, makabili ng armas at patrol vehicles.
Samantala, ang proposed budget naman para sa AFP ay P130.6 billion, o 15 percent na mas mataas kumpara sa 2016 budget, upang mapaglaanan naman ang AFP Modernization Program.
Tinaasan din ang alokasyon para sa infrastructure na aabot sa P860.7 billion o 13.8 percent na mas mataas sa budget para sa 2016.
