Sundalo patay, 5 sugatan sa patuloy na operasyon sa Basilan

Isang sundalo ang nasawi matapos masabugan ng Improvised Explosive Device (IED) sa Tipo-Tipo, Basilan.

Nagsasagawa ng operasyon ang tropa ng 8th Infantry Scout Ranger Company ng 3rd Scout Ranger Battalion nang maganap ang insidente.

Dahil sa pagsabog, nasawi si Private First Class Jobert Certicio at nasugatan ang lima pa niyang kasamahan.

Isa sa mga nasugatan ay si Private First Class Abayon na nagtamo ng shrapnel wounds sa mukha at likod.

Agad dinala sa Camp Navarro General Hospital sa Headquarters ng Western Mindanao Command sa Zamboanga City ang mga sugatan.

Patuloy ang operasyon ng tropa ng military sa Basilan laban sa Abu Sayyaf Group.

Kamakailan, binigyang parangal ng Western Mindanao Command ng Armed Forces of the Philippines ang mga sundalong nasugatan sa Basilan operations.

Pinarangalan ni Lt. Gen. Mayoralgo Dela Cruz, commander, ng AFP Western Mindanao Command, ang mga tauhan ng 8th Scout Ranger Company, 14th Scout Ranger Company, at 64th Infantry Battalion na nasugatan sa operasyon laban sa Abu Sayyaf.

Kabilang sa binigyan ng “Wounded Personnel Medal” sina Technical Sergeant Rolito Quimson, Staff Sergeant Warren Ybañez, Sergeant Elizalde Togado, Corporal Teofisto Rabena, Corporal Ryan Jay Zerrudo, Corporal Rizalito Sayson, Corporal Archie Pacionela, Corporal Noel Morales, Corporal Marnie Carpentil, Private First Class Ronald Abayon, Private First Class Julius Avila, Private First Class Albert Villanueva, Private First Class Vincent Maghari, at Private First Class Jeffrey Habala.
