METRO MANILA, Philippines — Pabor ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) sa pagkasa ng online voting sa 2025 para sa mga rehistradong botanteng Filipino na nasa ibang bansa.

Ito ang sinabi ni Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia nitong Huwebes, bagamat aniya mayroon na silang en banc resolution na naglalaman ng kanilang opinyon sa pagpabor nila sa internet voting.

Ipinaliwanag ni Garcia kay Sen. Imee Marcos, ang namumuno sa electoral reforms committee, na kung ipahinto ng korte ang internet voting, maaari naman magbalik sa mail-in o in-person voting.

Tinanong ni Marcos si Garcia kung anong hakbang ang kanilang gagawin kung harangin ng korte ang bagong sistema sa pagboto.

Pinalinaw din ng senadora kay Garcia ang kanilang pagkakaintindi at pagkasa sa Republic Act No. 10590 — o ang Act Providing for a System of Overseas Absentee Voting by Qualified Citizens of the Philippines Abroad.
