Bantag nagbibilang na lang ng araw bago maaresto – DOJ
Tiniyak ng Department of Justice (DOJ) na nalalapit na ang araw nang pag-aresto kay dating Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gerald Bantag.
Sinabi ni Justice Asec, Mico Clavano binabantayan nila ang mga posibleng kinaroroonan ni Bantag.
“Patuloy pa din po iyong manhunt ho natin ‘no. We have a general idea already of his whereabouts so it’s just a matter of time,” ani Clavano.
Sabi pa niya: “Again with these things, we just have to stay patient – these things don’t happen overnight. The wheels of justice, they grind slowly but they grind very finely so we just have to stay patient.”
Si Bantag ang pangunahing suspek sa pagkakapaslang kay broadcaster Percy Lapid o Percival Mabasa sa tunay na buhay noong 2022, gayundin sa bilanggo sa New Bilibid Prison na si Jun Villamor.
Una nang sinalakay ng mga ahente ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ang bahay ni Bantag ngunit bigo silang maaresto ito.
Ang kapwa niya akusado na si Ricardo Zulueta, na dati din opisyal ng BuCor, ay namatay dahil diumano sa atake sa puso noong nakaraang buwan sa Bataan.
