Villar umapila ng “Balikatan” para sa mga mangingisdang Filipino sa WPS
Naniniwala si Senator Cynthia Villar na kailangan ng “Balikatan” ng mga kinauukulang ahensiya at grupo para sa pagbibigay proteksyon sa mga mangingisdang Filipino na naglalayag sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Katuwiran ni Villar malaking bahagi ng produksyon ng isda sa bansa ay nagmumula sa WPS.
“As chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, hold on to my goal of crafting laws to help in the fishing sector’s growth. Let us unite to alleviate the living conditions of our fishermen,” sabi ni Villar sa Layag-WPS Project sa Subic, Zambales.
Dagdag pa niya: “The Livelihood Activities to Enhance Fisheries Yields And Economic Gains from the WPS or LAYAG-WPS Project was the result of dedication of our government led by the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, to address some of the most important needs of our fishermen particularly in the WPS.”
Umaasa na lamang din ang senadora na ang naibigay na kabuhayan sa higit 100 mangingisda ay magiging daan para sa mas masaganang pangingisda sa teritoryo ng bansa.
Ang proyekto, sabi pa ni Villar, ay patunay ng pagsusumikap ng gobyerno na paunlarin ang sektor ng pangingisda sa Pilipinas sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng mga kagamitan at pagtuturo ng teknolohiya.
Naniniwala din aniya siya na iniintindi ng gobyerno ang kapakanan ng mga mangingisdang Filipino.
