Sedition charge vs ex-Speaker Alvarez ‘wag ituloy – Koko
Sinabi ni Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III na hindi dapat hikayatin pa ang pagsasampa ng mga kasong kriminal kaugnay sa mga komento sa mga isyu sa bansa.
Ang pahayag na ito ni Pimentel ay kaugnay sa binabalak ng ilang miyembro ng Kamara na ireklamo si dating House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez dahil sa panghihikayat nito sa Armed Forces of the Philippines na talikuran na si Pangulong Marcos Jr.
Nangyari ang pahayag sa isang political rally sa Tagum City, Davao del Norte at nag-ugat sa mga isyu sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Paliwanag ni Pimentel hindi dapat nagmumula sa AFP o anumang armadong grupo ang pamunuan ng bansa.
“The political leadership should be settled through honest elections. Let us insulate our armed forces from politics so that they can develop into a more professional, disciplined, and inspired group,” pahayag ni Pimentel mula sa kanyang tanggapan.
Kilalang kaalyado ni dating Pangulong Duterte si Alvarez.
Ang Department of Justice (DOJ) iniibestigahan na rin ang pahayag ni Alvarez kung ito ba ay may mga elemento ng “sedition.”
