2 China ships nag-miron sa Ph, US, Japan, & Australia WPS exercise
Kinumpirma ng Deparment of National Defense (DND) na may dalawang Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels kasabay ng pagsasagawa ng unang multilateral maritime cooperative activity (MMCA) sa pagitan ng Pilipinas, US, Australia at Japan sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Unang ibinahagi ni AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., ang presensiya ng dalawang Chinese vessels at aniya hindi naman nakialam ang mga ito sa MMCA.
Dagdag pa ni Brawner naisakatuparan ang lahat ng aktibidad kasama na ang anti-submarine warfare at communication exercises, division tactics or officer of the watch maneuvers, at maging photo exercise.
Aniya hindi nila alam kung ano ang plano ng naturang barko ng China, na nakapuwesto may anim na nautical miles mula sa MMCA activities’ area.
“So we are saying that while we were conducting our own exercises in the WPS, we only monitored the presence of two PLAN ships at wala namang ginawang mga combat patrol or mga exercises,” aniya.
Paglilinaw na lamang din ni Brawner na ang aktibidad ay hindi “show of force” kundi para lamang paigtingin ang “interoperability” at kapabilidad ng mga puwersa ng apat na bansa.
