DepEd ipinaalala sa school heads ang kapangyarihan sa classes suspension

Pinaalahanan ng  Department of Education (DepEd) ang mga pamunuan ng mga paaralan ukol sa kanilang kapangyarihan na magsuspindi o magkansela ng mga klase.

Base sa DO 037 series of 2022, maaring magsuspindi o magkansela ng mga klase ang school principal sa tuwing ay kalamidad, pagkawala ng kuryente at iba pa.

Nakasaad naman sa  OASOPS No. 2023-077 na may petsang Abril 20, 2023, nasa kapangyarihan ng principal na suspindihin ang in-person classes at magsagawa na lamang ng alternative delivery modes (ADM) dahil sa matinding init ng panahon at kalamidad kung kailan maaring makompromiso ang kalusugan at kaligtasan ng mga estudyante, guro at non-teaching personnel ng paaralan.

“Given that DepEd supervises more than 47,000 schools nationwide, it is in the best interest of the learning community to have localized assessments for timely response and interventions to ensure the welfare of learners and personnel,” pahayag ng DepEd.

Sinabi ng kagawaran na higit 2.5 milyong mag-aaral sa bansa ang apektado ng kasalukuyang mataas na “heat indices.”
