Gatchalian pinaghahanda ang DOE sa yellow alert sa power supply
Bunga ng tumitinding init ng panahon, hinikayat ni Senator Sherwin Gatchalian ang Department of Energy (DOE) na agad magpatupad ng “stop-gap measures” para sa inaasahang pagtataas ng “yellow alert” sa mga lugar na sakop ng Luzon grid dahil sa El Niño.
“The DOE should immediately form an El Niño task force to convene all power plants and distribution utilities to plan for contingency measures, including the implementation of the Interruptible Load Program (ILP),” ani Gatchalian.
Paliwanag ng senador bibigyan ng kompensasyon ang mga konsyumer na gagamitin ang kanilang generating facilities kapag kinapos ang suplay ng kuryente.
Dagdag pa ni Gatchalian dapat ay tiyakin ng kagawaran na makakasunod sa Grid Operating and Maintenance Program (GOMP) ang lahat ng mga pasilidad na may kinalaman sa power-generation at transmission ng kuryente.
Sinabi din nito na dapay ay hikayatin ng DOE ang mga konsyumer na magtipid sa paggamit ng kuryente ngayon panahon ng tag-init at gumamit ng mga energy-efficient na produkto.
“The DOE needs to ensure that energy consumers in the Luzon grid are not placed in a precarious situation of experiencing power interruption especially since the summer season is now in full effect,” sabi pa ng vice-chairman ng Senate Committee on Energy.
