Sen. Cynthia Villar isinusulong ang rabies-free community sa bansa

Naniniwala si Senator Cynthia Villar na posible ang rabies-free community sa bansa.

Aniya magagawa ito sa pagiging responsable ng mga nag-aalaga ng mga hayop, partikular na ang aso at pusa.

Sinabi ni Villar na higit 300 Filipino ang namamatay dahil sa rabies kada taon at mataas ang insidente sa Metro Manila at mga kalapit na lugar.

“Rabies is the most acutely fatal infectious disease transmitted through bites of stray dogs and cats. Rabies is also a public health problem despite the availability of rabies vaccines,” ani Villar sa pagsasagawa ng “Libreng Kapon at Ligate” project  para sa mga alagang aso at hayop sa Las Piñas City at Bacoor City sa Cavite.

Nabatid na 150 aso at pusa ang naging benipesaryo ng naturang proyekto na isinagawa sa pamamagitan din ng  Villar Foundation at Vets Love Nature.

Isinusulong din sa proyekto ang responsableng pag-aalaga ng mga hayop.

“We are also promoting proper animal care such as making sure that our dog is not a nuisance to others. Our pet dog or cat should always be on a leash or under the control of a responsible adult when outside of their premises. Responsible pet owners are to pick up dog waste and do their best to minimize barking,” sabi pa ng senadora.

Nabanggit niya na ang  Villar Foundation ay nagtatayo ng animal shelter facility sa Bacoor City para mabawasan ang mga gumagalang aso at pusa.
