Gatchalian: After 30 years, internet connectivity sa bansa kapos pa rin
Makalipas ang tatlong dekada nananatiling kapos ang internet access sa bansa.
Sinabi ito ni Senator Sherwin Gatchalian sa kanyang pagpapaalala na unang nagkaroon ng internet connection sa bansa noong Marso 29, 1994.
Ayon kay Gatchalian mula sa 17.7 porsiyento noong 2019, umangat ang household internet access sa 76.90 porsiyento noong 2022 base sa 2022 Women and ICT Development Index (WIDI) Survey at sa 2019 National ICT Household Survey (NICTHS), na ibinahagi naman ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
“Without a doubt, the internet is the most game-changing technology that continues to reshape the way we live our lives. It is unfortunate that even after 30 years of internet presence in the country, a sizable portion of our population continues to miss out on its benefits,” himutok ng senador.
Diin niya napakahalaga ng internet sa edukasyon, research and development, business promotion and innovation, communication, and financial management at iba pa.
Dagdag pa ni Gatchalian upang magkaroon ng pag-unlad maging sa kasuluksulukan at mahihirap na lugar sa bansa, kinakailangan na magkaroon ng internet access ang lahat at dapat ay asikasuhin ito ng husto ng gobyerno.
Inihain ng senador ang Senate Bill No. 814 o ang Satellite-based Technologies for Internet Connectivity Act, na ang layon ay matiyak na may universal internet access sa internet sa bansa para sa e-government at pagbibigay ng mga pangunahing serbisyo publiko sa edukasyon, kalusugan, pangangalakal, paghahanda sa kalamidad at kaligtasan ng mamamayan.
